Those of us with healthy bodies are so blessed. Whether we have a healthy body image or not, the EB Relay is an exercise in self-esteem-building for ourselves and others. Each of us is beautiful in our own way. Let us use that gift to help others who are forced to fight just to live each day.
We must find our moral compass in an ever-changing, materialistic world, and recognize this call to action. Yes, this demands boldness, and it involves getting out of our safety zone, and moving beyond our good intentions. Take a risk: make a change. Or, if this isn't your thing, all we ask is that you tell FIVE other people about this website, so they can decide for themselves.
It is an honor and a privilege to participate in some way, to serve others who are in such powerful need. Make a leap of faith. It could be the best thing you do this year!
Also, this is a fantastic opportunity to teach your children about community. What is it that makes one child more prone to rejection by another? Children with EB are sometimes rejected or stared at because of how they look (extensive bandages, painful-looking wounds, and scarred hands can be intimidating), because of their smaller stature, or because they cannot play as actively as their schoolmates. And yet, these children have great dignity, and every one of them deserves to live a normal, full life, out of the shadows - this must be our goal.
It is in those moments when we feel secure and significant that we know that supreme happiness: JOY. What can possibly be better than to give a child this gift?
The EB Relay is a wonderful opportunity to empower and teach your children about their civic duty. We welcome family teams!
Our world is full of stereotypes, and it is unfair and unhealthy to exclude someone based on a "label" that is put on them because of how they look.
Just imagine: a new world where diversity is celebrated. The EB Relay gives you a venue to be an advocate and an example to others, and to promote diversity, whether you have EB or not. Democracy is not a spectator sport. We were all born to add value to this world. All I ask is that you be true to your destiny.
Let us begin to create a world with a bright future for everyone.
